Staying in Vancouver

Vancouver offers many accommodation options for families.  YANA works in partnership with the BC Family Residence Program (BCFRP) to fulfill accommodation needs in Vancouver. The BCFRP provides subsidized accommodation for families whose child, including premature babies and newborns with other health concerns, is receiving care at  BC Children’s Hospital or Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children for up to 30 days per stay.

YANA rents and maintains four fully-furnished apartments within walking distance of BC Children’s Hospital. The YANA apartments are approved accommodation with the BCFRP program. YANA also accommodates families who fall outside of the BCFRP mandate by providing access to the apartments. Families who need to stay in Vancouver for long periods of time typically stay at the YANA apartments but apartments can be made available for short stays.  Families are required to clean the apartment prior to their departure.

The YANA apartments are simply furnished with all the necessary amenities so that they can become a home away from home. These one-bedroom apartments have a private bathroom, separate living room with a sofa bed and a bedroom with two single beds.

Location & Parking

The YANA apartments are in the Oak Manor apartment building, 3300 Oak Street, between 17th and 18th Avenue in Vancouver. Our clients have access to underground parking and there is also street parking in front of the apartment building on Oak Street and on both sides of 17th Street on the block in front of Oak Manor.

Discussing your accommodation needs and preferences is part of the intake process. YANA provides free access to accommodation either by booking accommodation directly for you, through reimbursement of pre-approved accommodation receipts or by helping you access other programs to cover accommodation expenses.  We provide information so that your family has accommodation that fits your circumstances.  If the YANA apartments are part of your care plan, the booking will be made directly through the YANA office.
