Comox Bike Company YANA Ride

Monday, August 1, 2022 – Sunday, August 21, 2022 Comox Valley

The 2022 Comox Bike Co. YANA Ride is rolling into action as we prepare for our most epic year yet! This year’s hybrid event brings together the best of both our in-person and virtual events. The sky’s the limit for ways to participate in this chart-your-own-course ride, which will wrap up with a community celebration at the Comox Marina Park where supporters, riders and families can join with others who are proud of the work this community does to support YANA!

WHEN: Teams and individuals will be out in full force on their own charted course, Sunday, August 21st.  Riders are encouraged to end their route and arrive at the Marina Park between 11am-2pm for the Party in the Park, with activities and entertainment continuing on until 4pm for friends, family, and the community.

Can’t make it on the 21st? Raise pledges and ride anytime between August 1-21st, and join in whatever way you can!

Ride WHERE you like, WHAT you like, and HOWEVER it suits you to show your support for YANA!

  • What: Ride whatever you like, if it’s powered by you and it has wheels, it’s a fit for this ride! Gravel bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes, even training-wheels and trikes, are welcome to participate in this event.
  • How: Challenge yourself or set a goal and raise pledges while you do! Whether it’s a team challenge, a climb the height of a mountain challenge, or a ride-a-little-bit-every-day challenge, do what motivates and inspires you to ride for YANA families.
  • Where: Hit the trails, cycle the city streets, or ride laps around the neighbourhood, chart the route that works for you, just make sure to join us at the finish line on August 21st!

We are eager to join together as a community for a long awaited in-person celebration, wrapping up the YANA Ride with a Party in the Park that you won’t want to miss! Join us at the Comox Marina Park for:

WHY Should YOu RIDE?

Every dollar raised goes straight to helping a local family receiving YANA support while travelling for the medical care for a child or pregnant mother.  This event is our second largest fundraiser which last year brought in $77,000, covering a significant portion of the cost to run YANA’s funding and accommodation each year.

YANA supports an average of 165 families and 450 medical trips each year, providing almost $265,000 in travel funding and accommodation support last year alone. Your donation at registration and the pledges and money you raise, allow us to continue to say yes to families and be there when they need it most.

$50 = 1 night stay at a YANA apartment in Vancouver near BC Children’s Hospital

$100 = 1 night stay near Nanaimo Hospital

$200 = YANA envelope of cash for  family’s emergency hospital transfer

$400 = 2 weeks stay at Jeneece Place in Victoria

$1000 = 1 month travel expense funding for a family away from home

HELP NEEDED!  The exciting return of in-person events brings a huge increased need for enthusiastic, talented and dedicated volunteers who can help us plan and execute our large-scale fundraisers.

Through a summer like no other, even in the midst of holidays, beach days, long-anticipated road trips and travel, this incredible community still showed up. You ‘Everested, you climbed, you cruised (some of you crashed), but no matter how you showed your support, you found a way to make it your own and celebrate YANA any way that you could.

To the 300+riders, the donors, sponsors & volunteers, and to the giant-hearted YANA supporters from across the Comox Valley and beyond, to say ‘thank you’ is hardly enough for the $77,000 that, together, we raised for families in our community. You truly showed every YANA child that even through the darkest of days, they are not alone.

Amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic, 424 Riders registered by donation for the first-ever socially distanced, “virtual” Comox Bike Co YANA Ride.
An incredible $110,000 was raised for YANA families by these mighty riders and the sponsors, donors, and volunteers who supported them. Make no mistake, when our community comes together like this in such a huge way, under such troubling circumstances, we are showing our youngest, most treasured people, and everyone who loves them, that we care. That we show up. That we will forever promise them – You Are Not Alone.
