So many things make Owen’s story special. Being accepted into the home and everyday life of this family and being witness to the love that surrounds them is a privilege that we don’t take lightly. YANA has provided a home away from home during Owen’s out-of-town medical treatment since the very beginning and we will continue to do so into the future. Owen’s story was shared at the 2015 YANA Dinner & Auction. Photo credits to McKinnon Photography, music credits to Big Little Lions.
Owen’s first sharing story…
Hi, my name is Owen and I was born in February, 3 1/2 months premature. I weighed only 2 lbs 5 oz when I was born so I had a lot of growing and maturing to do.
I spent 117 days in the hospital before I was able to go home. Most of this time was spent in the NICU at BC Children’s Hospital. It was a rocky road for me, as well as for my parents.
Thanks to YANA, my parents were able to stick together the whole time to give me the TLC that I needed. YANA gave us a fully furnished apartment close to the hospital as well as finances so my dad could stay with my mom. They were awesome and we are forever grateful.
