YANA Ride

Comox Valley

The annual YANA Ride brings together riders of all ages, abilities, and disciplines in one massive community-wide event to raise funds in support of YANA families.

Participation is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. REGISTER & RALLY – Round up your friends, family, coworkers or riding crew and register as a team! Rallying together makes fundraising more fun and impactful — and every team member’s tax-receiptable registration donation counts toward your collective goal. Prefer to ride solo? No problem — individual riders are always welcome too! However you roll, you’ll be riding for local families who need it most.
  2. RIDE & RAISE – Choose your Challenge tracking distance, time, number of trails, or number of communities you’ve ridden in, OR chart your very own course. Ride on Sunday, August 17th, or any day between August 1st to 17th, collecting pledges along the way.
  3. REUNITE at the massive PARTY IN THE PARK celebration on Sunday, August 17th from 11AM to 4PM at Comox Marina Park. Riders, families, friends, and YANA supporters far and wide are welcome!!

Every dollar raised goes straight to helping a local family receive YANA support while travelling for medical care for a child or pregnant mother.  This event is our second largest fundraiser which last year brought in $101,000, covering a significant portion of the cost of running YANA’s funding and accommodation each year.

YANA supported 271 children with 588 medical trips, providing over $347,000 in travel funding and accommodation support last year alone. Your donation at registration and the pledges and money you raise, allow us to continue to say yes to families and be there when they need it most.

  • $50 = 1 night stay at a YANA apartment in Vancouver near BC Children’s Hospital
  • $100 = 4 nights stay at Jeneece Place, Victoria
  • $200 = YANA envelope of cash for a family’s emergency hospital transfer
  • $500 = 3 nights Nanaimo hotel accommodation
  • $1350 = 1 month medical travel expense funding

LOOKING BACK

2024

The 2024 event had a few nail-biting moments, but this truly incredible community put every worry to rest! A big goal was set, and you were not deterred. Instead, you faced the challenge (and the Party in the Park day storm!) head-on, and together we raised an amazing $101,000 for YANA families! This year also marked the first-ever Golf Ball Drop, a new tradition that will surely be a fan favourite for years to come. To the 500+ compassionate donors, 240 dedicated riders, 46 generous sponsors, and 70 unstoppable volunteers—we want to THANK YOU! The success of the 2024 event wouldn’t have been possible without the many hands and hearts that came together to support YANA. That’s the power of community!

2023

57 volunteers and 56 sponsors & prize donors laid the groundwork for 248 dedicated riders to chart-their-own-course in the 2023 Comox Bike Co. YANA Ride fundraiser. Thousands of supporters made a pledge towards their efforts, bought draw tickets and gear, bid on auction items or had a blast at the Party in the Park. No two people helped in exactly the same way, but the impact of SO many people doing what they personally could was exponential. Friends, together we raised ONE HUNDRED TWELVE THOUSAND record-breaking dollars for YANA families! $112,000!!!! Thank you to everyone who helped in whatever way that you could so that we’re able to keep helping families the way that we can!

2022

What an honour and privilege it was to reunite together again for YANA families! 2022 was all about transitioning gracefully and coming back stronger than ever. What a comeback it was!

315 riders and the friends, family, donors, and volunteers who cheered and supported them every pedal of the way raised the grandest grand total yet – $86,500!!  Thanks to our incredibly generous sponsors, 100% of the event costs were covered, so every single dollar raised was used directly to help Comox Valley families with children or pregnant moms needing medical care away from home. Massive thank you to everyone who came together to make it all possible.  Absolutely amazing!!

2021

Through a summer like no other, even in the midst of holidays, beach days, long-anticipated road trips and travel, this incredible community still showed up. You ‘Everested, you climbed, you cruised (some of you crashed), but no matter how you showed your support, you found a way to make it your own and celebrate YANA any way that you could.

To the 300+riders, the donors, sponsors & volunteers, and to the giant-hearted YANA supporters from across the Comox Valley and beyond, to say ‘thank you’ is hardly enough for the $77,000 that, together, we raised for families in our community. You truly showed every YANA child that even through the darkest of days, they are not alone.

2020

Amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic, 424 Riders registered by donation for the first-ever socially distanced, “virtual” Comox Bike Co YANA Ride.
An incredible $110,000 was raised for YANA families by these mighty riders and the sponsors, donors, and volunteers who supported them. Make no mistake, when our community comes together like this in such a huge way, under such troubling circumstances, we are showing our youngest, most treasured people, and everyone who loves them, that we care. That we show up. That we will forever promise them – You Are Not Alone.
